Travellers who were given 24 hours to leave a car park have moved on.

Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council served the group with an eviction notice after they moved into the area of land off Forstal Road in Aylesford.

MP for Chatham and Aylesford, Tracey Crouch, confirmed to constituents on Twitter that they had been served with the notice earlier today.

Residents confirmed that one caravan had turned up on Saturday night and had been joined by a second yesterday.

This afternoon a TMBC spokesman confirmed that the group had moved on and a cleaning team would be sent in.

A spokesman for TMBC said: “A caravan was parked in the west Bailey Bridge Road car park on Saturday September, 27. A second caravan arrived on Sunday, August 28. A Direction under Section 77 was served on the occupiers of the caravans on Monday morning and they left during the afternoon.”

Police attended the car park at the back of the village's Hengist restaurant last night.
