A group of travellers who moved on to a family park sparking outrage earlier this week are yet to leave despite a council order.

The six unauthorised caravans moved on to Cobtree Manor Park, in Aylesford, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Following a number of complaints by members of the public Maidstone Borough Council yesterday confirmed it had served the travellers with notices instructing them to leave the Forstal Road site by 5pm.

However, this afternoon they remain on the park land.

One visitor reported attempted criminal damage in the children’s play area, cars being driven across the park land dogs roaming the area.

A spokesman for MBC confirmed the council is assessing the best way to proceed and that no damage had been caused to the site.

Kent Police have been made aware of the situation but currently no offences have been reported.

The park’s management were recently criticised by visitors after it was revealed £1.50 parking charges will be brought in when a new visitor centre opens next month.
