A community project from the Royal British Legion Industries has been shortlisted to receive a grant from the Big Lottery People’s Millions.

If successful, it will fund a project to create a community hub called Base Camp to provide a cafe and a programme of activities at the RBL village in Aylesford.

The aim of the project is to promote integration, whether visitors are veterans or non-veterans, to reduce isolation and encourage independence.

The Royal British Legion Industries Village in Aylesford has been shortlisted for the Big Lottery People's Millions.

RBLI chief executive Steve Sherry said: “Establishing this facility will provide a much needed focal point for the village.

“At the heart of the hub, there will be a community cafe.”
