A car was engulfed in flames on a motorway this evening, partially closing the road.

Smoke billowing across the carriageway shut the M20 coastbound near Brands Hatch.

A Ford Focus burst into flames on the hard shoulder and was quickly wreathed in yellow flame.

Fire fighters were called to put out the burning car just after 6.30pm.
