Strictly Come Dancing may be well underway but BBC bosses seem to have missed out on some top dance floor talent – albeit in an unlikely form.

It was at the Conservative party conference in Manchester where Tonbridge and Malling MP Tom Tugendhat took housing secretary Michael Gove for a spin.

As Whitney Houston's 1987 anthem I Wanna Dance With Somebody blared out the pair waltzed around as colleagues looked on in wonder.

As "on a love that burns hot enough to last" is sung Mr Tugendhat twirls Mr Gove around at some speed, with the latter looking slightly concerned.

But by the chorus they both seem to be loving the routine.

The reaction to the footage, shared by political journalist John Johnston on Twitter was mixed, with one user calling it "deeply disturbing" and others taking aim at the slightly off-key rendition.

"Is Whitney being strangled?" quipped one person.

The pair's antics weren't the only thing turning heads last night, with Department for Work and Pensions chief Thérèse Coffey belted out I've Had the Time of My Life.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will this morning address the conference after Priti Patel's speech yesterday, which addressed police vetting, asylum seeker crossings and Insulate Britain.
