A prolific shoplifter who went out stealing again while on a suspended sentence has been jailed after admitting stealing thousands of pounds worth of DVDs from shops around the county.

Christopher Blaber, 31, pleaded guilty to seven counts of shoplifting and one of failing to surrender to custody when he appeared before magistrates in Medway.

The court heard how in October Blaber, of Pier Road, Gillingham, stole DVDs worth approximately £300 from a shop in Greenhithe and later that month and in November he stole DVDs worth approximately £500 and £200 from a shop in Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells.

He then went to a shop in Fremlin Walk, Maidstone, and stole DVDs worth £638.79 and £1,670.31 on two occasions.
