Man due in court accused of having firearm as helicopter and armed officers are called to Sundridge Hill, Cuxton

A man has been charged and will appear in court after armed officers and the police helicopter was scrambled late on last night.

Armed officers were called out shortly after 11pm to reports a man had been seen with a gun in the Sundridge Hill area of Cuxton.

Officers with guns on the ground requested the help of their colleagues in the National Police Air Service helicopter and he was was arrested.

Police said no one was injured and confirmed this afternoon they had charged the man.a

Scott Leather, 39, of Sundridge Hill, has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm.

Leather has been bailed to appear at Medway Magistrates Court, on Tuesday, January 16.
