Armed police called to disturbance in Lester Road, Chatham

A man was arrested following a incident which left a woman with an injured face.

Armed police attended Lester Road, Chatham, yesterday at 2.50pm to reports of a disturbance involving the possible use of a weapon.

They found a woman in her 40s with an injury to her face but she was not taken to hospital.

A 53-year-old man – known to the woman – was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.

Police spokesman Steve Knight said: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident including how she sustained the injury.

"No weapons were seized from the location."

The man was released on bailed until Monday, March 2.
