Armed police surround home in Eden Avenue, Wayfield, Chatham amid reports of man pointing gun

Armed police surrounded a property in Wayfield last night after reports of a man pointing a gun.

Response officers were called to Eden Avenue, at about 7.10pm.

A 49-year-old man from Medway has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody this morning.

Nobody was hurt, and the road was temporarily closed.

A police spokesman said: "We thank residents for their patience and cooperation while officers resolved the matter safely."

An investigation is ongoing.
