A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after three raiders burst into a beauty salon and threatened staff with a weapon.

The suspect, aged in his 40s and from Gillingham, was taken into custody this morning where he remains.

Drama unfolded at Beautonics, in High Street, Rainham, last Thursday when the gang dressed in black smashed their way into the store and demanded cash.

One member of staff received minor injuries and the trio fled, two by car and one, who was apparently injured in a struggle, on foot.

Armed police were scrambled to the scene and stood guard as detectives questioned witnesses.

The shop was back open this week but staff said they were "too shaken" to comment.
