Man and woman arrested in Strood after theft from shop

A man and a woman were arrested in Strood by police investigating a theft from a shop.

Officers attended a property in Gun Lane at 4.30pm on Sunday following reports that items had been stolen from a nearby shop.

While at the scene officers identified a number of items believed to have been stolen, and arrested a 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman.

Several police cars were seen in Gun Lane hours later, at around 11.15pm, but police were unable to confirm if they were there in relation to the same incident.

The arrested man was released pending further enquiries and the woman was released without charge.
