Two charged in connection with armed raid on security van at Asda

A man and a woman are to appear in court on Monday in connection with the armed robbery of a security van.

Keely Beer, 41, of Firethorn Close in Gillingham, has been charged with robbery while John Todd, 45, of the same address, has been charged with robbery and possessing an imitation firearm following the incident in Asda, Maidstone Road, Chatham, yesterday.

Kent Police was called to the supermarket at 9.30am after it was reported staff from Loomis were threatened with what is believed to have been a small hand gun.

A warrant was executed at an address in Gillingham and a quantity of cash recovered.

Both have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
