Blackadder star and Time Team presenter Tony Robinson has been filming in Kent today.

The 73-year-old visited the orchards of AC Goatham, based in Rochester, to shoot a new series of his Channel 5 show about the River Thames.

The actor and comedian - famous for his role as Baldrick in the BBC sitcom Blackadder - met with the team at the company's head office at Flanders Farm on the Ratcliffe Highway.

He was visiting the AC Goatham farms to find out how modern orchards are managed and maintained before joining staff at the package and cold storage side of the business at the company's headquarters.

The company is one of the country's largest apple growers and supply to many supermarkets throughout the UK.

In the tweet, the company said staff had been "delighted to welcome the legendary" TV presenter.

Last year, the first series of The Thames: Britain's Great River with Tony Robinson aired on Channel 5.

The programme looks at the role the mighty river has played in the growth of the nation and how settlements have sprung up along its banks for hundreds of miles.

It has not been confirmed when the show will air but is understood to also feature many other landmarks around the Medway Towns with filming continuing during the coming weeks.

The show explores the history, influence and population of the river.

Robinson is no stranger to Kent having visited the county last February to shoot another of his shows.

But when he returned in July to film some "pick up" shots he was made to wear a thick coat for continuity, which he said in 26C had made him "a bit sticky".
