Missing Peter Bruce, from Chatham, found dead in Gravesend after concerns were raised for his welfare

A pensioner who had gone missing has been found dead miles away from his home.

There were concerns for the welfare of Peter Bruce from Chatham who had last been seen in the area at about 11am on Monday, January 29.

In a police appeal made yesterday afternoon, it was reported that he was wearing blue jeans, a brown coat, a blue woollen hat and grey Nike trainers.

However, police have since confirmed officers located the body of a man in Gravesend yesterday, who was confirmed as deceased at the scene.

A police spokesperson said while formal identification has not yet taken place, the family of the 72-year-old man has been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
