While formal identification has yet to take place, the family of Stella Toner, from Strood, has been informed.

The post read: “My mum’s body was found in the River Medway today earlier this evening (August 18).

“Thank you for everyone’s love, messages, and people who have searched, shared and liked.

“You have been truly kind and supportive.

“As a family, we are devastated but now know she is at peace.”

Search parties took place in Strood and Rochester on Thursday evening, organised by Stella’s family, and they have thanked everyone for their help.

Police say a report is being prepared for the coroner.
