Gillingham: Cyclist in "serious condition" at hospital after incident in Hempstead Road

A 12-year-old cyclist remains in a serious condition in hospital after a collision with a car.

Police closed Hempstead Road in Gillingham yesterday following the incident at 1.40pm.

The road was closed in both directions and the cyclist has been taken to a London hospital for treatment.

Police spokeswoman Sally Smith said yesterday : "Officers were called at 1.40pm today (September 15) following a report that a car had been in collision with a cyclist."

The ambulance service has been contacted for further information.
