Invicta Dynamos’ hopes of retaining their ENIHL South title are mathematically over after mixed results at the weekend.

Kevin Parrish’s side needed to beat Bracknell Hornets on Saturday to keep their slim chances alive, but a 6-3 reverse in Berkshire ended their interest. The Mos bounced back with a 3-1 win away to Oxford City Stars on Sunday, but the championship trophy will have a new home at the end of the season.

Mos started the better against Bracknell, taking the lead through Chris Borges, but Hornets reversed their fortunes through Danny Hughes and Grant Rounding.

Tom Smith increased the hosts’ lead and, although Andy Smith (pictured) made it 3-2, Tom Avery restored Bracknell’s two-goal cushion. Avery’s strike came on the powerplay after a hit on Grant Rounding by Borges, with the latter given a match penalty after the challenge injured his opponent.

The Hornets continued to press and made the extra man count as Tom Carroll netted for 5-2. Smith’s second gave the scoreline some credibility, but Hughes had the last word to ensure a comfortable victory.
