Man detained under Mental Health Act after falling from Rochester Bridge into River Medway

A man has been detained under the Mental Health Act after falling from Rochester Bridge early today.
The 22-year-old, from Chatham, fell into the River Medway at about 2.30am.
Kent Police were called to the bridge and officers got the man out of the water eight minutes later.
The man was taken to hospital for precautionary checks.
Medway Coastguard was also called to the incident but quickly stood down.
