Court date set for suspected Wainscott burglars after reports of break-in at Banning Street, Rochester

A court date has been set for two burglary suspects following reports of a break-in.

Rebecca Small, 34, and Jack Elliott, 32, both of Gill Avenue, Wainscott, are alleged to have broke into a home in Banning Street, Rochester.

The victim woke up at 3am on Monday to find her front door wide open.

Having checked around, she closed the door and went back to sleep but woke hours later to a notification at 5.36am that one of her bank cards had been used in a nearby shop.

It was then she reported noticing her purse was missing and that a second bank card had been used in another store nearby.

The burglary was then reported to police at 5.43am who, following enquiries, arrested two suspects later that morning.

Small and Elliott appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with one count of burglary and two counts of fraud.

They were bailed with conditions and are due to appear before the same court on Wednesday October 5.
