Bus services had to make emergency changes to their routes after being targeted by “missiles”.

Routes 140 and 700 from Chatham bus station were re-routed after three buses were hit in Darnley Road, Strood.

Arriva buses were targeted by missiles last Thursday

All passengers were told to get off at The Bligh Way shops stop or in Strood for their own safety following the incident last Thursday.

All buses that evening were re-routed through London Road and Watling Street.

An Arriva spokesman said: “The safety of our team and our customers is our first priority, following reports, last Thursday evening, two of our routes were temporarily re-routed, the diversion was in place for Thursday evening only, the services resumed as normal on Friday morning.

“We can also confirm that there were no injuries sustained and no damage to our fleet.”

The incidents were not reported to the police.

The 140 takes passengers from Chatham station to Bligh Way, while the 700 continues on to Bluewater.
