Arsonists are thought to be to blame for a fire that left a car written off.

A Toyota Yaris parked in residential Trinity Road, Gillingham, suffered 80 per cent fire damage early on Wednesday.

Firefighters from Medway station tackled the blaze for about 40 minutes, but were unable to save the car.

A Mitsubishi Shogun vehicle, parked behind the Toyota, suffered minor heat damage.

There were no injuries, but firefighters said the cause was being treated as "malicious".

Medway Police said officers are investigating the cause of the fire and believe it may have been started deliberately.
