Man taken to hospital after crash involving car and learner bus in Ito Way, Gillingham

A man has been taken to hospital after his car was involved in a crash with a learner bus today.

Emergency services were called to Ito Way, Gillingham, at about 11.30am after reports a red Mercedes coupe was in collision with a bus.

The smash happened at the junction with Sovereign Boulevard and the Mercedes was hit on its side.

The ambulance came about 90 minutes late. Stock picture.

The road was closed at the junction with Woodlands Road shortly afterwards and remained shut for an hour.

Firefighters cut the roof off the car to get to the man, who is thought to be about 20.

He was placed in a neck collar and on a stretcher before being removed from the vehicle and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.
