A car burst into flames after a police chase in Gillingham in the early hours of this morning.

Police officers attempted to stop the car just before 2am. But the vehicle did not stop and is reported to have then crashed into a brick wall and three parked cars in Woodlands Road.

The occupants of the car are then said to have fled before it caught alight.

The police helicopter was scrambled to help search for the suspects, who have not been found.

A police spokesman said inquiries were still ongoing.
