The family of a pregnant young mum will never know why their daughter died.

Jade Glen, 22, collapsed at her parents’ home in Cobham Rise, Gillingham, when she was eight months pregnant.

The popular mum, whose 18-month-old son Mickey was with her when she died, had previously been treated for a suspected blood clot on her lung.

But following her death on May 26, a post mortem proved inconclusive.

Ten weeks on, further tests have revealed Jade’s organs were healthy and there were no traces of drugs or alcohol in her system.

The cause of death has been recorded as “sudden unexpected death in a gravid [pregnant] female” – leaving her family with many unanswered questions.

Because Jade died of natural causes, an inquest will not take place.

Dad Floyd Glen said: “We are very confused. They have said it is an unexpected death but we feel there were lots of signs.”

Jade was admitted to hospital at the beginning of May when she collapsed at the home she shared with her boyfriend Michael Arnold in Jezreels Road, Gillingham. She spent eight days on a ward and was treated for a suspected blood clot on her lung before being discharged.

Jade, a former New Brompton College pupil, returned to hospital two days before she died because she was feeling unwell, but after being checked, was sent home again.

She was found dead on the bathroom floor by her dad, after Michael raised the alarm when he couldn’t get hold of Jade on the phone.

Her family think she had been brushing her teeth – the cold tap was still running and her toothbrush was next to her. Her baby daughter, who she was going to call Dolly May, died with her.

Following her death, more than 100 family and friends gathered at Rookery Fields park in Woodlands Road to release paper lanterns in her memory and hundreds of touching messages were left on a Facebook tribute page.

Mr Glen said: “We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and support over this time.”

He added: “Mickey is doing really good. He kisses his mum’s photo most days.”
