Child injured after car ploughs into house in Wordsworth Close, Chatham

The air ambulance has been scrambled after a car crashed into a house injuring a child.

Police and ambulance crews were called out to Wordsworth Close in Chatham after the car crashed into a garden and then hit a house.

The incident happened at shortly after 3pm this afternoon and a young child has suffered a leg injury as a result.

The road is currently closed while the emergency services deal with the incident.

Five to 10 police cars have been seen at the scene.

Logan Enfield lives in nearby Sheridan Close and was able to see the drama unfold.

He said: "The air ambulance has taken two people to hospital landing first on Wordsworth Cose then at Kingfisher Primary School, and the road remains closed.

"I was in the area for about half-an-hour and the police are still investigating.

"There was about five or police cars on the scene including police collision investigators and a police van."

Police spokesman James Walker said officers were called out at 3.07pm.

He added: "Officers are currently at the scene alongside crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

"A road closure is currently being enforced."
