Child's death in flat in Trafalgar Street, Gillingham remains mystery

The death of a child found alongside her mother's body remains unexplained - despite a post mortem examination.

But police have now released the identity of the two-year-old found on Monday, March 14 in Trafalgar Street, Gillingham.

Further tests will now be carried out into how Lynne Elizabeth Mutumba met her fate.

She was found alongside a woman - thought to be her mother - who has been named as 36-year-old Lillian Elizabeth Oluk.

Her death also remains unexplained but neither is being treated as suspicious.

Police are now liaising with the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances behind the incident.

It is thought their bodies could have lain undiscovered for up to eight days.

Neighbours were left stunned by the shocking find, which left the area looking like a major crime scene.
