Film-goers hoping to see the latest Hollywood blockbuster comedy starring Cameron Diaz, were left in the dark after a power cut in Strood brought a halt to the film.

People watching Bad Teacher on Monday night got to see about five minutes of the movie before the power went off at the Cineworld cinema in Medway Valley Park, Cuxton.

The cinema was not the only business to suffer in the park, restaurants and even Gala Bingo building were also left without any power.

The movie is centered around a foul-mouthed, junior high teacher, (Diaz) who, after being dumped by her sugar daddy. She begins to woo a colleague, a move that pits her against a well-loved teacher.

Within a few minutes more than 600 customers had their power restored, but others were left without electricity for nearly an hour.

A UK Power Networks spokesman apologised for the power cut saying it was caused by a fault in an underground cable.
