An MP says comedian Julian Clary was "out of order" for slamming her constituency.

In an interview with Velvet magazine, published by KentOnline's parent company Iliffe Media, the 59-year-old comedian told of his bad experience at Chatham.

He said: "I don't play Chatham any more because it's a s**t hole.

When asked to explain why, he added: "They didn’t laugh. Fifteen years ago, it was. Scarred me for life."

MP for Chatham and Aylesford Tracey Crouch was quite upset with Mr Clary's comments.

She said: “I think it is a bit rude of Julian to speak ill of a town that presumably paid his wage for that evening.

"Chatham faces many challenges and everyone wants to see them dealt with and the High Street regenerated but to denigrate the whole town just because a few punters didn’t laugh at his jokes 15 years ago is frankly out of order”

But what do you think, is Chatham as bad as Julian says?
