Coronavirus Kent: Rob Beckett responds to concerns over show at the Central Theatre in Chatham amid Covid-19 pandemic

A TV-show host who is set to perform in Medway has reassured fans the show will go ahead as planned.

The next stop on Rob Beckett's 'Wallop!' tour will show at the Central Theatre in Chatham tonight.

Sports matches, music concerts and other events across the county have been cancelled due to the spread of the coronavirus.

Fans who have bought tickets to the stand up act have expressed concern about attending the event via social media.

Vikki Macpherson posted on Instagram saying: "Please reschedule your Chatham show tomorrow we really want to see you but feels it's too risky to be there."

The comic replied to the comment saying: "Yes Chatham can be a very scary place to visit but I've been reassured by the council that the locals are fighting and drinking in the streets much less nowadays.

"But in all seriousness Vikki I totally understand your concerns but we are following Government guidelines.

The further spread of the virus has caused sporting fixtures, music concerts and other events to be postponed across the country

"As soon as we are told to reschedule events we will. But for the time being the show will go on."
