Salt supplies in the Towns are in a healthy state according to Medway council despite many other local authorities running low on supplies.

More than 2,000 tonnes of salt are still left in Medway Council’s stores while they are also receiving daily top ups.

There have been warnings of more snow in the next few days and other councils have been left with low gritting material supplies.

A spokesman for the council said: “The council has eight gritting lorries working 24/7 and another 43 street cleaners are gritting by hand on the high streets and in areas which are inaccessible for the lorries.”

Between January 23 and February 3 the council has used 811 tonnes of salt from its Cliffe salt barn.
