A local authority has moved to reassure residents its tips are open and working as normal.

It comes after some people reported issues using Medway Council's online booking service which showed there was no availability for January.

The recycling centre in Cuxton is one of three run by Medway Council

Head of regulatory and environmental services, Ian Gilmore, said this was not the case but the website is experiencing a few technical difficulties which has affected bookings.

He added: "Residents are able to book trips to one of our Household Waste and Recycling Centres through our online booking form.

"The form releases new dates for the following week every few days.

"However, we are aware that some residents may be experiencing technical difficulties. If you are unable to book, please try a different time slot or a different centre.

"There is plenty of availability and we are looking into this with our website provider. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

Medway Council runs three recycling centres across the Towns in Capstone, Cuxton and Hoath Way which are open from 8am until 4pm.
