Two neighbours in Strood and a business in Larkfield are showing their appreciation for the NHS with creative tributes.

Rene Johnston and Stuart Hunter, who both live in Willow Road, Strood, have cut out letters in the communal green in front of their houses using lawnmowers.

Mr Johnston, 53, says they got it done just in time for the 8pm round of applause on Thursday, with people able to gather around the oval green – all practising the two-metre social distancing rule – and sharing their love and appreciation of the NHS.

The father-of-two said: "We just wanted to show our respect. It all got quite emotional really. The amount of people who came out to have a look – it was fantastic."

Stapletons Tyre Services in Larkfield had to be creative with the resources they had, and so arranged tyres to spell out NHS and a big heart to show their admiration for the healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus.
