Work to replace equipment at Medway Crematorium will not lead to funeral service delays, the council has assured.

Maintenance work is being carried out at the crematorium in Blue Bell Hill.

Maintenance will be carried out on the cremators, with one of the chapels closed as a result of the work to help prevent disruption.

Hoarding has been put up around the closed chapel.

In 2014 the extension at Medway Crematorium was recognised as a piece of outstanding architecture and won a South East Regional Award from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
