Sheerness inshore lifeboat searches River Medway after person threatened to jump

Rescue crews searched the River Medway for three hours after reports a person was threatening to jump into the water.

The emergency services were called at around 3.36pm yesterday after concerns for someone near the Dockside Outlet Centre in Chatham.

A full search of the river was carried out up to Rochester Bridge.

Sheerness RNLI Inshore Lifeboat crew.

The police, Sheerness inshore lifeboat and the Medway and Sheppey coastguard teams helped to scour the shoreline.

A man was located and taken into the care of medical professionals.
