A controversial decision to shut a primary school has been put on hold by Medway Council.

The authority’s cabinet met this afternoon (Tuesday) to consider objections made to a statutory notice announcing the closure of St John’s in Chatham at the end of this academic year.

The council has decided to hold off on making a final decision so a review can be done on how shutting the school will impact places at faith schools in the Towns.

St Nicholas C of E Infant School and All Faith's Community School have been saved after councillors rejected officers recommendations to merge them.
