A new TV show produced, written and filmed in Kent has dropped onto global streaming platform Amazon Prime.

Co-creator Patrick Murray from Medway says he's extremely excited and proud to see Elzaz, a show about a modern day wizard protecting the world from magical threats.

Filming took place in Rochester with the town's cathedral providing a stunning backdrop.

Patrick says filming in the town was "wonderful" thanks to the cathedral and The Vines being a "gorgeous location".

The first episode, which is available to watch now on Prime, sees Elzaz, who is struggling to find his place in the world, explore the highs and lows of the dating world.

Patrick said: "Elzaz is a fantasy comedy, the character came to me in a dream one night.

"The show will explore magical realms, magical creatures and exciting mysteries. My inspirations for this show are a mix of Greek mythology, Fantasia and classic British humour."

Patrick met co-producer and screenwriter Jazmyn Barlow at a drama group in the Towns 10 years ago and worked on the script, story and idea during lockdown last year over video calls.

Elzaz is played by Thomas Ross, who is about to attend drama school in Brighton.

Patrick added: "The character matched perfectly with his personality and that’s what makes Elzaz so genuine. We formed a great local cast and crew who have become our great friends and formed an unbreakable team bond.

"The challenges were difficult especially during the pandemic but we had a fantastic and hardworking team behind us, everyone involved performed a wonderful job that brought mine and Jazmyn’s vision to life and now having it available on Amazon Prime is our reward for our hard work."

The team are currently working on filming the rest of the 10-part series with episode one available to watch now.

"It has been received very well," Patrick said. "Episode one was low budget so we are very grateful for all the kind words and feedback, moving forward we are in production of the full series from August and are aiming for ten episodes. Episode two ‘Family Matters’ is Elzaz hosting a dinner party disaster with an uninvited magical guest."
