Detectives appeal for witnesses to Chatham hammer attacks

A hammer-wielding thug is believed to have smashed windows of three banks and a cafe.

Police are hunting a man over the attacks on properties in Chatham High Street.

Halifax, Lloyds and Nat West banks as well as the Blueberry Park Cafe were all targeted.

A Medway Police spokesman said: "It's believed that the damage was caused by a man who possibly used a hammer to smash the windows."

Detectives are checking CCTV of the incident, which is thought to have happened at about 1am on Thursday.

The offender is described as a white man aged between 30 and 40, 6ft and wearing a blue jacket with a hood, blue jeans and black trainers.
