Distraction burglary in Gillingham

A man posing as a worker from the gas board gained entry to an elderly woman’s home in Gillingham and made off with her handbag.

The incident is being investigated by Medway police who say the distraction burglary happened in Rosebery Road, on Wednesday, November 4.

The man entered the woman’s home between 1pm and 1.15pm and stole a handbag which had £250 inside it.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw a man acting suspiciously, to contact them.
