A woman has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a lamppost on a main road.

Police and paramedics were called around 2.15pm to the roundabout on the A228 in Hoo between Main Road and Penisula Way.

The woman was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with back pain.

A passerby said that one lane was closed and officers were diverting traffic into the outside lane.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 2.13pm to reports of a single vehicle collision. The car collided into roadside furniture."
