Sledgehammer raid on home in Thorold Road, Chatham

Two men are to appear in crown court accused of smashing into a home using a sledgehammer and making off with cash.

The break-in happened on Tuesday at 2.20pm in Thorold Road, Chatham.

Maidstone Crown Court

Police were called to the property and told a quantity of cash had been taken.

They later arrested and charged Kevin Kankam, 30, of Brookstone Court, Peckham, and Phares Shackleton, 26, of Belworth Court, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, on suspicion of burglary.

Both were released on bail and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday, November 28.
