Man in his 80s airlifted to hospital after crashing into a bollard on Boundary Road, Chatham

An elderly man had to be airlifted to hospital after a motorbike crash.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was called to Boundary Road in Chatham at 2.22pm yesterday.

The rider, aged in his 80s, had crashed into a bollard along the road. He fractured his leg and ankle, among other injuries.

SECAmb also attended but he was taken to King's College Hospital by helicopter.

It took them 40 minutes to arrive at the hospital and the man's injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
