An elderly man was taken to hospital after crashing his car into a lamppost.

The incident happened at 11.50pm yesterday on the slip road leading from the Maidstone-bound carriageway of the A229, in Blue Bell Hill, towards Burham.

Fire crews rescued the 70-year-old from his overturned car.

Police were also attended and took the man to Medway Maritime Hospital as a precaution.
