RNLI, firefighters and police attend reports of person in the water at Rochester Bridge

Emergency services could be seen combing a river in response to reports of someone in the water.

Firefighters, police, the RNLI and ambulance crews attended the incident by Rochester Bridge late last night.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews were called to Rochester Bridge to reports of a person in the river.

"Firefighters, alongside the Coastguard, Kent Police and RNLI conducted a thorough search, however no one was found in the water. South East Coast Ambulance also attended."

Emergency services were at the scene from 11.46pm yesterday and 2.02am today.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance said: "We came clear from the scene when no person was found."
