An ex Met Police officer has been given a restraining order after he was found guilty of stalking his wife.

Sohrab Peerbaccus, also a former teacher at the Howard School in Rainham, twice planted trackers in his wife's car after being concerned about her movements.

Earlier this month, Medway Magistrates' Court heard how the couple, formerly of Niven Close, Wainscott, were experiencing marital problems.

Despite living in the same house, they slept in different rooms and did not socialise.

Sarah Jane Peerbaccus rumbled her husband's stalking when she uncovered a tracking device while away visiting her grandmother in Norfolk on April 21.

When questioned by officers, the former Greenwich-based sergeant admitted placing it under his wife's Vauxhall Mokka.

The Wainscott resident was given year-long restraining order against Mrs Peerbaccus when he was sentenced at Medway Magistrates' Court yesterday.

He was also handed a community order which sees him electronically tagged and curfewed for a duration of eight weeks.
