Concern is growing for a pensioner who has now been missing from his Rochester home for two weeks.

Richard Raj, 63, is diabetic and in urgent need of medication.

The former accountant, who walks with a severe stoop, was reported missing from his sheltered housing acommodation in Weatherly Close on Friday, September 6.

But relatives said they had been trying to contact Mr Raj, who has mental health issues, for several days beforehand.

There have been three sightings of him in the Rainham area and one in Rochester High Street.

A relative, who did not wish to be named, said: “He has no money or transport and what is he doing about food?

“It’s very frustrating. As a family we feel helpless.”

Mr Raj is of Indian origin, about 5ft 10in, of slim build, with grey/black hair and wears glasses.

He used to run a private care home in Gillingham until he fell victim to a multi-million pound euro lottery scam.

The home, Jeannette Lodge in Park Avenue, went into receivership and the residents had to be re-housed.

Speaking at the time, Mr Raj said: “Now I don’t have a job. I have lost everything. I have been stupid.”
