A petition has been set up opposing plans for riverside flats on a caravan site.

Developers want to build a four-storey apartment building at Medway Bridge Marina in Borstal, Rochester.

Under the plans, the building would include 40 two-bedroom apartments and an underground car park.

Ground Projects Ltd, which is behind the development, is proposing a new access road from the existing marina entrance and a total of 46 parking spaces.

In February last year, members of the public were invited to have a look at the plans at a presentation at Cleave Warne Hall in Borstal.

Last month, an application was put forward to build a cafe and an office, both with storage units in the ground floor, as well as a new boat shed at the marina.

A change.org petition has been set up calling on the council to oppose the plans for the apartments.

The petition lists the reasons for rejecting the plans including its possible impact on traffic, the character of the village, noise and pollution, saying it is a "potential planning disaster".

The council has previously rejected an application to develop the land in 2016 when a plan for 36 flats was refused due to concerns of over development, however, the Planning Inspectorate made a decision to allow the resubmission of the plans following a successful appeal.

The plans are due to be considered by Monday, May 24.
