Fire crews battle house blaze in Dawes Street, Gillingham

Firefighters spent almost two hours battling a house blaze, the cause of which is being investigated.

Two crews from Medway fire station were called out to Dawes Street, Gillingham, at 3.31am today.

They arrived at the property within a few minutes of receiving the 999 call.

Wearing breathing apparatus they went into the two-storey house and extinguished the blaze using a hose reel.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke and fumes from the building and a thermal imaging camera used to check for fire spread and hot spots.

There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
