An accident investigation is under way after a firefighter was injured in the line of duty.

The man sustained burns to the chin after tackling a blaze at a house fire in Moyle Close, Parkwood , last Wednesday.

Black plumes of smoke could be seen following the fire in Moyle Close, in Rainham

He was taken to hospital for treatment and was discharged the same day.

A charging wire in a garage near the property is thought to be the cause of the blaze.

Four fire engines attended and crews wore breathing apparatus as they fought back the flames using hose reel jets.

The home-owner received treatment for smoke inhalation but did not require hospital attention.
