Firefighters have warned of the dangers of black ice after a woman was left badly shaken when her car left the road.

The woman, thought to be in her 40s, skidded on ice and careered through a fence off the Ratcliffe Highway near the Windmill pub at about 9.30pm last night (Monday, December 28).

The woman was treated for shock by paramedics but did not suffer any serious injuries.

Fire crews from Hoo and Medway were at the scene for about 45 minutes.
