Almost 30 firefighters were called to tackle a 2.5 acre grass fire, less than a day after being called to a blaze in the same road.

Six fire engines and an all terrain vehicle attended the fire on land off West Lane on the Isle of Grain.

They were called at 1.30pm today (Friday) and used beaters and flexi-packs to battle the blaze.

Crews left the scene at around 5pm after extinguishing the fire.

Speaking on Friday morning, a spokesman said: "It's not the first time we've been here. We were called to the same field a few days ago.

"We think it is being started deliberately."

Last night's fire has been referred to the police.

A KFRS spokesman said: "Not all emergency situations have road access so firefighters use the all terrain vehicles to access the fire.

"These eight wheeled vehicles can get firefighters and equipment to remote, hard to reach areas such as woods and moorlands that would be impossible for a traditional heavy fire engine to reach. They have the versatility to tackle grassland fires in restricted rural areas."
